iPhone MySpace Preview Vid
Friday, Apr 4, 2008, 11:12 pm | In General, Programming, Videos, iPhone ProjectsHere's a quick vid demoing my new iPhone MySpace web application. (Make sure you click the fullscreen button in the top-right to see everything best)

Thanks for the twitter follow, Love this iPhone app. All i need now is an iPhone and a beta copy of what you have going. But what I’d love to see is sort of a next phase thing would be aggregate facebook, myspace and other social identities into one and I can’t help but notice that with your level of scrapping expertise this might just be something achievable. I have some ideas I think we should chat about.

Looking great so far… I don’t have an iPhone/iPod Touch, so I won’t use it myself (nor do I ever visit MySpace), but it’s great to see that even in the face of competition from their own developers you’re fighting to make an application that will work the way it should do…
Everything MySpace touches turns to crap, so keep up the awesome work man
Just as an aside: How easy is it to get to grips with iPhone app development? What programming background did you come from before writing this app?
I’m subscribing to your feed here

The most important things are that it works and it’s usable, two things the MySpace webapp are not.

Hey Jake, The MySpace iPhone app looks great, when do you think you will release it?

Thanks for the follow on Twitter, your MySpace iPhone app is pretty sweet!
Definitely much better than what they have as their mobile version of MS right now… I still get messed up pages when viewing the mobile version on my iPhone with what they currently offer :/

the irony of this post is that you can’t actually watch the video in this blog entry on an iPhone. Might be a good idea to have a link to the youtube version or something.

Too bad MySpace doesn’t look like this normally. It looks clean!

Use that code to hide the address bar on load. Like what Facebook’s iPhone app does. Makes the web app look extra good.

Well done – not that I use MySpace, but well done.
Maybe you can use http://www.ankoder.com/ to pull out the .flv and turn them into something that the iPhone can play?
I saw this demo-ed at BarCampSydney3 yesterday.

Looks great, I can’t wait to use that. Myspace sucks on the iPhone right now.

My comment isn’t about your post, it’s about your site’s layout!! I LOVE It!! Confused me slightly that my computer was inside your blog, but then I realised that your layout was THE coolest thing I’ve ever seen!!

I assume you’d have to have a jailbroken iPhone to use your MySpace app?

Hey Jake, very cool app you got going there. I personally don’t use MySpace anymore and do all my development on Facebook but I like what you are doing. Keep up the good work and try to convince MySpace to buy it!

Very cool. I wish I had the chops to do stuff like this…

Great job! Myspace is horrible on the iPhone. I’m a graphic designer in Reno, Nevada. Let me know if you are still looking for help with the UI.

hey Jake. Check out this iPhone app with actual voice / telephony enabled via the Ribbit api. Pretty cool stuff and easy to do if you are a Adobe Flex builder: http://developer.ribbit.com/showcase/AIRiPhone/

I hate both myspace and facebook but I won’t deny when I see something well done. FB’s iphone app is great for what it is, and this looks welll done too, so nice work

Firstly, HEY! We have the same Wordpress theme! Haha.
Secondly, your app looks pretty gosh-darned fantastic. If the final result ends up being as fantastic as what you’ve got so far, I’ll just end up using my iPod touch to access MySpace and avoid all of those pesky, seizure-inducing profiles that I hate so much. Awesome job so far, and keep me updated! I’d hate to lose track of your progress on this project.

That is very neat. I do not have an iPhone, thought that it was a waist of money to buy something like that personally. But it is a very neat app for such a cool device.

Thanks for the Twitter Follow… you have a public beta out for this?
Comment by Christopher — April 15th, 2008 at 6:29 pm #
@Christopher: Not yet, but its coming VERY soon
Comment by Jake Marsh — April 17th, 2008 at 6:42 pm #
Jake very cool! Looking forward to trying it out. It will be nice to just be able go to MySpace and not deal with all the banners. Hope you find someone good to help with the UI.
